Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s Ontario home-movie requests needing domestic summer life, backyard fruit picking, and a teenager returning indoors for documentary or education edits.
Period detail: The striped halter playsuit, screen door, painted siding, and small backyard setting support a mid-century residential summer scene consistent with the 1958 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the informal family-camera moment as the young woman smiles, handles fruit, and moves naturally between the yard and the house.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a red-sided house, white screen door, window trim, fruit tree, sunlit backyard, young woman in a pink striped outfit, and dark film-edge borders.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows saturated color, strong sun-and-shade contrast, soft focus, handheld framing, and visible grain that preserve the home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short memory beat, domestic-life insert, backyard cutaway, or transition between exterior family activity and a home interior sequence.
Historical context: The clip may show everyday teenage or family life around a modest Ontario backyard, emphasizing seasonal outdoor chores or leisure rather than a public event.
Research note: People are visible, including a recognizable face in one frame, so likeness review may be needed in addition to any separate copyright or location assessment.
Research search match: Search matches include 1958 Ontario 8mm backyard, teenage girl picking fruit, mid-century Canadian home movie, screen door exterior, and summer family footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1958 Ontario residential scenes, then broader mid-century backyard, fruit tree, or summer home-life footage.
