Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s Canadian home-movie requests needing amateur tennis, nighttime recreation, or casual sport footage for documentary, education, or period montage use.
Period detail: The white athletic clothing, wooden racket, grass court, and low-light 8mm color footage may show late-1950s recreational tennis in Ontario, Canada.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged home-movie view of a young man lunging, swinging, and playing informally under night lighting.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a tennis player, white shirt, dark trousers or light shorts in some frames, wooden racket, grass court, court line, dark background, and heavy film grain.
Film character: The footage has a grainy 8mm texture with low-light exposure, soft focus, color shifts, and handheld framing that give the scene a candid home-movie feel.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a brief insert, memory beat, or sports cutaway within a sequence about leisure, youth, family films, or mid-century recreation.
Historical context: The scene shows informal outdoor tennis at night, suggesting recreational sport as captured by a private home-movie camera rather than organized competition.
Research note: A visible person appears in the clip, so likeness review may be needed; copyright, location, and any property issues should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Searches such as 1950s Ontario tennis home movie, 8mm night tennis, vintage grass court recreation, and young man playing tennis may match this clip.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1958 Ontario footage, then broader 1950s sports, recreation, and home-movie leisure scenes.
