Overlooking Green Hillside With Terraced Earthworks And... — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1958, this vintage home movie captures a sweeping view of a green hillside landscape from an elevated perspective. The footage shows layered terrain with terraced earthworks, likely a quarry or excavation site, surrounded by dense trees displaying early autumn colors. A utility pole stands in the mid-ground, and the scene is framed by dark borders, suggesting it was filmed through a window or viewfinder. The warm, slightly faded color palette and film grain evoke a nostalgic, mid-century American feel, offering authentic archival footage of rural or semi-rural terrain.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1950s 8mm landscape cutaway for productions needing an elevated rural or semi-rural hillside view near Las Vegas.
Period detail: The frame may show mid-century utility infrastructure and terraced earthworks, with no visible vehicles, signage, people, or buildings to date the scene independently.
Home-movie behavior: The clip carries a visitor-shot perspective, holding briefly on distant terrain from a high vantage point as a casual travel or home-movie observation.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include distant wooded hills, terraced earthworks, autumn-toned trees, open grassy foreground, a utility pole, pale sky, and dark film gate borders.
Film character: The footage has soft 8mm color, visible grain, slight exposure fade, gate edges, and minor dust or hair marks that read as original physical-film texture.
Edit role: Editors could use this as a quiet establishing insert, landscape transition, excavation-site cutaway, or memory beat between more specific Las Vegas-area scenes.
Historical context: The view suggests open land and altered terrain in a period home-movie record, without enough visual evidence to identify a specific site or activity.
Research note: No people, logos, or audible music are indicated, but copyright, site identification, and any underlying property considerations should be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Useful matches include 1958 8mm Las Vegas hillside footage, terraced earthworks home movie, Nevada landscape cutaway, and autumn trees elevated view.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with Las Vegas or Nevada 1958 material, then with mid-century landscape, quarry, or hillside views.
