Woman At Pikes Peak Summit With Elevation Sign — Clip Details

A vintage 8mm home movie clip from 1958 captures a woman in a red jacket standing at the summit of Pikes Peak. The iconic sign reads 'PIKES PEAK ELEVATION 14,109' with 'PIKE NATIONAL FOREST PREVENT FOREST FIRES' below. The scene unfolds under a bright blue sky with scattered clouds, set against a rugged, rocky landscape. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 film grain and color saturation, evoking a strong sense of mid-century Americana and personal travel memory.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1950s Colorado travel footage useful for documentary or educational edits needing a brief home-movie view of Pikes Peak summit tourism.
Period detail: The Pikes Peak elevation sign, visitor clothing, 8mm color stock, and handheld framing support a late-1950s home-movie travel context.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an informal visitor-shot moment, with a woman posing below the summit sign rather than a staged tourism scene.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include the Pikes Peak sign, rocky summit ground, blue sky, scattered clouds, a woman in a red jacket, and dark film-frame borders.
Film character: The footage has dense 8mm grain, saturated color, soft focus, uneven exposure, and handheld registration that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short landmark insert, travel-memory beat, Colorado location cutaway, or transition into mountain tourism material.
Historical context: The scene shows mid-century leisure travel at a marked summit viewpoint, centered on personal documentation of a recognizable public landscape.
Research note: A visible person and U.S. Forest Service-style sign may require likeness and trademark or agency-identification review separate from footage copyright.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1950s 8mm Pikes Peak sign, Colorado Springs home movie, summit elevation sign, and vintage mountain travel footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1958 Colorado Springs or Pikes Peak material, then broader 1950s U.S. road-trip footage.
