Family Group in Plaid Jacket and Grey Cardigan at... — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1958, this vintage home movie captures a family group on a sunny day at a mountain road location in Montana. A man in a red plaid jacket and glasses stands with two women—one in a grey cardigan and white blouse, the other in a patterned dress and white hat—engaged in conversation. The rugged, rocky hillside and a concrete structure in the background suggest a scenic overlook or highway rest area. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 grain and color saturation, evoking mid-century Americana and family travel nostalgia.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s U.S. family travel, roadside sightseeing, and mid-century vacation inserts in documentary or educational edits.
Period detail: The clothing, hats, glasses, and color 8mm look support a late-1950s home-movie setting at a mountain road or overlook.
Home-movie behavior: The group appears casually posed and conversing for the camera, offering an unstaged family-travel moment rather than a formal portrait.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include adults in mid-century clothing, a red plaid jacket, a grey cardigan, a white hat, road railings, rocky hillsides, and concrete structures.
Film character: The footage has saturated color, visible 8mm grain, slight softness, and handheld framing that read as authentic family-film texture.
Edit role: Editors could use this as a brief memory beat, roadside travel cutaway, or transition within a family vacation or mid-century Americana sequence.
Historical context: The scene reflects leisure travel and group sightseeing in a mountainous western U.S. setting without identifying the exact landmark from the frames alone.
Research note: Faces are visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos or audible music are indicated, but copyright and personal rights should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Search phrases may include 1958 Montana family road trip, 1950s home movie mountain overlook, adults at roadside stop, and red plaid jacket travel footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with Montana or 1958 travel material, and then with broader 1950s family vacation footage.
