Las Vegas Nevada-1957: Video Recording Of An Old Hotel With A Giant Bird Mascot

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Supports 1950s Las Vegas travel, roadside lodging, and mid-century Americana requests needing a brief exterior hotel sign cutaway.

Period detail

The frames show 1957 8mm footage of a Las Vegas hotel sign with large HOTEL lettering, parked period cars, and a sculptural bird figure above the entrance sign.

Home-movie behavior

The clip has a visitor-shot perspective, briefly panning across an eye-catching roadside hotel sign rather than staging a formal architectural view.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include a hotel marquee, large HOTEL lettering, a giant bird mascot, low motel-style buildings, parked cars, pale sky, and trees.

Film character

The 8mm scan has soft focus, faded color, visible grain, gate edges, and mild handheld instability that read as original home-movie texture.

Edit role

An editor could use it as a short insert, Las Vegas travel transition, roadside architecture cutaway, or memory beat in a mid-century sequence.

Historical context

The footage places a novelty hotel sign and automobile-oriented lodging within the visual world of 1950s Las Vegas tourism.

Research note

Brand or hotel-name lettering appears partly visible, so trademark and location identification should be reviewed separately from copyright and property concerns.
