Yellowstone Wyoming USA-1958: Family Gathering At A Summer Barbecue

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Fits a 1950s American family life documentary brief — backyard social gathering with multiple generations of adults in mid-century dress.

Period detail

Women in full-length purple and blue dresses, a man in a yellow sport shirt, and round flowering shrubs beside a brick house suggest a late-1950s domestic setting.

Home-movie behavior

People converse naturally, hold drinks, and move freely without staging — classic informal 8mm home recording of a multi-generational family afternoon.

What appears in frame

Older adults in period dress, brick house exterior, white-painted window frames, round flowering shrubs, a woman bending toward what may be a grill or dish, and a man holding a drink.

Film character

Warm color cast, visible grain, and slight soft focus typical of 8mm stock from this era lend the footage an intimate, time-capsule quality.

Edit role

Serves as a memory-beat insert or period-life cutaway in documentaries on 1950s American family culture, postwar domestic life, or summer social rituals.

Historical context

Coordinating full-length dresses on women and a man in a casual sport shirt reflect mid-century American leisure dress codes and the era's backyard-gathering social norm.

Research note

Multiple adult faces are identifiable throughout; no model releases are on record — editorial use only; copyright status of the original film should be verified with the contributor.
