Two Cows And Entertainers At A Fairground With Many — Clip Details

CATSKILL NEW YORK-1957: A vibrant 8mm home movie captures a lively fairground scene. A woman in a strapless dress performs on a stage with a pink and white backdrop, while an American flag waves nearby. The crowd, dressed in 1950s attire with hats and coats, watches intently. The footage then shifts to a livestock show, where two large white cows are led by handlers across a grassy field, with spectators seated in bleachers. The grainy, color-bleached quality of the Super 8 film evokes a nostalgic, authentic mid-century Americana atmosphere.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Solves requests for 1950s rural American county fair footage combining fairground stage entertainment with livestock judging — suitable for documentary, educational, or period Americana productions.
Period detail: Hat and coat styles on the crowd, wooden bleacher construction, color-faded 8mm stock, and a displayed American flag all support a mid-1950s rural fair setting; metadata confirms 1957 in Catskill, New York.
Home-movie behavior: An amateur attendee shot from within the fairground crowd, capturing a stage performer and livestock handlers at ground level — unstaged, unrehearsed, and visitor-perspective throughout.
What appears in frame: Pink-and-white stage backdrop, American flag, costumed female entertainer, hat-wearing audience, large pale-coated cattle, plaid-shirted handlers, grassy show ring, and packed wooden bleachers.
Film character: Warm color cast with visible grain and mild exposure variation typical of late-1950s consumer 8mm; faded saturation and slight softness reinforce the period archival texture.
Edit role: Serves as a period-establishing cutaway or interstitial in documentaries on American rural life, county fairs, postwar agriculture, or 1950s Americana.
Historical context: Postwar upstate New York county fairs combined livestock competition with live stage entertainment; audience attire and wooden bleacher construction are consistent with late-1950s rural fair culture.
Research note: Multiple identifiable adult faces are visible in the crowd and as livestock handlers; no minors or logos identified; standard archival likeness review is recommended before editorial use.
Research search match: 1950s county fair livestock show, upstate New York fair entertainment, mid-century American fairground, 8mm home movie cattle judging.
Archive pairing path: Pair with other clips from this reel first; then seek additional Catskill or upstate New York 1957 fair footage; then broaden to 1950s rural America or county fair documentary material.
