Albany New York-1955: Men Drinking At A New Year's Eve Gathering

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Useful for 1950s home-movie requests needing New Year's Eve social drinking, domestic celebration, or mid-century adult gathering inserts for documentary and editorial use.

Period detail

The frames show mid-century formal clothing, a red sofa, table lamps, patterned walls, and holiday lights that support a 1950s private living-room setting.

Home-movie behavior

The clip has unstaged home-movie value in adults relaxing, drinking, gesturing, and toasting inside a dim private room during a holiday gathering.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include suited men, a woman standing behind a chair, drinks in hand, red upholstery, white-shaded lamps, a blue wall or mantel, and small holiday lights.

Film character

The 8mm scan has saturated color, soft focus, uneven exposure, handheld framing, and visible grain that read as authentic physical-film texture.

Edit role

An editor could use this as a holiday party insert, memory beat, domestic transition, or cutaway for mid-century social life and private celebration.

Historical context

The footage documents adult social customs around a New Year's gathering in a private Albany interior without identifying the people or property shown.

Research note

People and a private interior are visible, so likeness and property review may be needed separately from any copyright or footage license assessment.
