Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1950s Albany home-movie footage for productions needing a quiet domestic insert of an older man handling a boxed gift or chocolates indoors.
Period detail: The patterned sweater, white gloves, table lamp, wallpaper, upholstered chair, and small side table may show mid-century domestic style in a private home.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the unstaged handling of a box and the brief interruption as another adult enters the room, suggesting family or party activity around the camera.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include an older man, a white rectangular box, white gloves, a patterned sweater, a shaded lamp, patterned wallpaper, a side table, and a woman in a pink coat.
Film character: The 8mm footage has soft focus, visible grain, warm indoor exposure, and slight handheld framing that give the scene a home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a domestic memory beat, gift-exchange cutaway, holiday or party insert, or transitional detail within a 1950s family sequence.
Historical context: The clip shows private indoor social life rather than a public event, with emphasis on gift handling and room details within a mid-century home setting.
Research note: People and a private interior are visible, so likeness and property considerations may remain even when film copyright status is separately reviewed.
Research search match: Useful searches might include 1950s Albany home movie, older man with box, boxed chocolates indoors, mid-century family party, and 8mm domestic footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with nearby shots from the same reel, then other Albany 1956 home interiors, then broader 1950s family party or gift-giving footage.
