A View Of Houses Ocean And Palm Trees — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1955, this vintage home movie captures a serene waterfront view in Dade County, Florida. The clip shows a white stucco house with a terracotta roof nestled among tall palm trees along a calm waterway. A wooden dock extends into the water, and the scene is framed by the dark edges of a window or boat porthole. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 grain, slight blurriness, and faded colors, evoking a nostalgic mid-century Florida atmosphere. This archival clip offers authentic retro footage of a tropical residential landscape.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1950s Florida waterfront residential footage for documentary inserts, location texture, or mid-century coastal establishing shots.
Period detail: The stucco waterfront houses, red tile roofs, palms, and low docks may show mid-century South Florida residential canal or bayfront development.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has a visitor-shot or passing-boat perspective, observing houses across calm water without staged action or visible people.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include white stucco houses, terracotta roofs, palm trees, a low seawall, white docks, calm water, and dark film-frame edges.
Film character: The 8mm image has soft focus, faded color, gate edges, light jitter, and fine grain that read as authentic home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a brief waterfront cutaway, residential establishing insert, travel-memory beat, or transition within a Florida sequence.
Historical context: The view suggests leisure-oriented coastal housing in Dade County, shown through domestic home-movie observation rather than official documentation.
Research note: No people or logos are visible, but residential property appears in frame; users should review copyright, property, and location identification separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1950s Dade County waterfront houses, Florida home movie palms, Miami-area canal homes, and 8mm coastal residence footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with nearby shots from the same reel, then other 1955 Dade County footage, then broader Florida waterfront or palm-lined residential scenes.
