View Of A Waterfront Hotel Building — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1955, this vintage home movie captures a waterfront view in Dade County, Florida. The clip opens on a calm body of water under an overcast sky, then pans to reveal a large, modern white hotel or apartment building along the shoreline. The structure features a distinctive curved facade with rows of windows, surrounded by palm trees and a sandy beach. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 film grain, slight blurriness, and natural color fading, evoking a nostalgic mid-century American coastal scene. Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s Florida waterfront establishing material, especially documentary or education edits needing a brief coastal hotel or apartment-building view.
Period detail: The white multi-story waterfront building, palm trees, beach edge, and 8mm color stock support a mid-century Dade County setting without identifying the specific property.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has a visitor-shot perspective, moving from open water toward a shoreline building as a traveler might record a coastal landmark from across the bay.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include calm water, overcast sky, a sandy shoreline, palm trees, a tall white curved building, smaller waterfront structures, and film-frame borders.
Film character: Soft focus, visible grain, mild color fading, gate weave, and contact-sheet scratches give the footage a physical 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short establishing insert, coastal transition, or memory beat between broader Florida travel or urban waterfront scenes.
Historical context: The scene visually situates mid-century leisure or residential development along a South Florida waterfront, based on the building scale and shoreline setting.
Research note: No people, logos, or readable brands are visible, but building identity, property permissions, and copyright status should be reviewed before final use.
Research search match: Search matches include 1950s Dade County waterfront hotel, Miami-area shoreline building, vintage 8mm Florida coast, and mid-century coastal architecture.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1955 Dade County waterfront footage, then broader Florida beach, hotel, and travel scenes.
