Underwater Film Shot Of Two Girls With Air Hoses And Fins — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1952, this vintage underwater footage captures two young women exploring a clear blue aquatic environment. One woman in a purple one-piece swimsuit holds a long air hose, while the other wears a light-colored swimsuit and snorkel gear. Bubbles rise steadily as they swim through the water, surrounded by rocky formations. The film exhibits classic Super 8 grain and color shifts, with a nostalgic, home-movie quality. The scene evokes mid-century recreational diving and aquatic adventure.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s Florida recreation sequences needing brief underwater home-movie footage of young women using fins, masks and air hoses.
Period detail: The swimsuits, hose-assisted diving setup and 8mm color stock may show early 1950s recreational underwater filming rather than modern scuba practice.
Home-movie behavior: The swimmers appear casually filmed as they move through clear water, creating an unstaged record of mid-century aquatic recreation.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two young women, one-piece swimsuits, swim fins, a face mask, air hoses, bubbles, rocky underwater formations and blue-green water.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm color, heavy blue cast, visible grain, gate edges and contact-print framing that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as an insert, memory beat or cutaway for stories about Florida leisure, swimming, early diving or family vacation footage.
Historical context: The footage visually places women in active underwater recreation, a useful social detail for mid-century leisure and amateur film contexts.
Research note: People are visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos or private property are apparent, and copyright status remains separate from subject clearance.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1952 Florida 8mm underwater swimming, vintage women with fins, air hose diving home movie and mid-century aquatic recreation.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then Florida 1952 material, then broader 1950s swimming, beach, boating or recreational diving clips.
