Listing For A Lot — Clip Details

A close-up of a handwritten note on aged paper, likely from a 1940s 8mm home movie. The text reads 'MICHAEL AT THE ZARFOSS LOT IN OCT '47', written in black ink with period-appropriate lettering. The grainy, monochrome image shows film damage and soft focus, characteristic of vintage Super 8 footage. This archival clip captures a personal, historical moment from mid-20th century America, offering a nostalgic glimpse into a bygone era.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s home-movie requests needing an insert of a handwritten identifying card or family-title note from Middletown, Pennsylvania.
Period detail: The visible note reads "Michael at the Zarfoss lot in Oct '47," giving a direct handwritten period clue while the exact filmed context remains limited.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves a practical home-movie labeling habit, documenting names, place, and date before or within a personal reel.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include aged paper, black handwritten lettering, repeated contact-sheet frames, soft focus, dark film borders, and light surface wear.
Film character: The 8mm scan has soft monochrome tonality, visible grain, slight exposure variation, gate edges, and the tactile look of a projected or scanned home-movie title card.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a cutaway, chapter marker, memory beat, or evidentiary insert before related family or property footage.
Historical context: The note offers personal documentation of a lot associated with Michael and Zarfoss, but the frames do not show the lot, people, buildings, or activity.
Research note: No people, logos, or private property are visible, but names in handwriting may require contextual research; copyright and privacy clearance should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Researcher matches include 1940s 8mm handwritten title card, Middletown Pennsylvania home movie note, Zarfoss lot label, and October 1947 family-film insert.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent frames from the same reel, then with Middletown or 1948 Pennsylvania material, then with handwritten title cards and family-property records.
