A Newborn With Its Face Being Cleaned — Clip Details

A grainy, black-and-white 8mm home movie from Middletown Pennsylvania in 1975 captures a newborn baby being gently cleaned. The close-up, handheld footage shows a tiny infant resting on a soft surface, with a hand carefully wiping its face. Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports archive requests for late-1940s home-movie material showing intimate newborn care for documentary, education, or family-history sequences.
Period detail: The monochrome 8mm close-up and soft domestic surface may show late-1940s infant-care footage, with no visible signage or location markers in the frames.
Home-movie behavior: The value is an unstaged close view of a newborn being gently tended by an adult hand, recorded from a private family perspective.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a newborn's face and head, an adult hand, soft bedding or cloth, close framing, dark film-edge vignetting, and heavy grain.
Film character: The footage has dense black-and-white grain, soft focus, uneven exposure, handheld framing, and rounded dark edges that read as physical 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a brief insert, memory beat, or intimate cutaway in sequences about birth, family life, infancy, or private home archives.
Historical context: The clip visually documents private infant care in a family-film context without enough visible evidence to identify a hospital, home interior, or specific local setting.
Research note: People and a newborn face are visible, so copyright, likeness, privacy, and sensitive infant-care context should be reviewed separately before use.
Research search match: Useful search phrases include 1940s 8mm newborn home movie, black-and-white baby being cleaned, vintage infant close-up, and Middletown Pennsylvania family film.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with Middletown or 1948 family footage, and finally with related newborn, baby-care, or domestic-life clips.
