Washington DC-1975: Officer and Woman in Red Coat

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Useful for 1970s Washington DC visitor-shot archive requests needing a brief human cutaway with uniformed personnel and a civilian figure.

Period detail

The dark peaked cap, formal uniform, red coat, soft color shift and 8mm texture support a mid-1970s home-movie reading without identifying a specific site.

Home-movie behavior

The clip preserves an unstaged travel-film pause as the camera studies a uniformed man and then a woman standing before a flowering hedge.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include a dark uniform and cap, a shadowed face, brass-like buttons, a red coat, a pale blouse, dense flowering shrubs and soft handheld framing.

Film character

The footage has grain, soft focus, saturated magenta-blue color drift, uneven exposure and slight handheld instability typical of scanned 8mm home movies.

Edit role

Editors can use it as a short insert, memory beat or transition between broader Washington DC travel footage and visitor portraits from the same reel.

Historical context

The scene reflects a personal 1970s travel viewpoint, emphasizing clothing, posture and public-facing uniform presence rather than a documented official event.

Research note

People and a uniformed figure are visible, so likeness and possible agency identification should be reviewed separately from film copyright status.
