Christmas Greeting from Peg and Jim — Clip Details

A grainy 8mm home movie title card from 1946, showing the text 'HARRISBURG PRODUCTIONS presents "Family Life" In our Family Up to December '46'. The footage captures the nostalgic aesthetic of mid-20th century home films, with visible film grain and a slightly blurred, vintage quality. The second frame reveals a handwritten Christmas message: 'Merry Christmas from Peg & Jim' with a small star drawing, suggesting a personal family holiday recording. This archival clip offers a rare glimpse into post-war American domestic life and holiday traditions.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for archival requests needing a 1940s American home-movie title card or holiday greeting insert with documented Harrisburg, Pennsylvania family-film context.
Period detail: The typed title text, December 1946 date, and handwritten Christmas greeting support a mid-1940s family-film identification without showing public landmarks or events.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves a private family-film presentation moment through title and greeting cards rather than visible people or staged action.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include blurred typed production text, the title Family Life, the date up to December 1946, dark frame edges, film grain, and a handwritten Christmas note.
Film character: The 8mm scan has soft focus, heavy grain, gate edges, dust, uneven exposure, and contact-sheet framing that emphasize its physical home-movie origin.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a title-card insert, family-memory transition, Christmas home-movie cutaway, or visual bridge into postwar domestic material.
Historical context: The visible cards suggest a family-made holiday or domestic-life film from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with social context limited to private home-movie authorship.
Research note: No people, logos, or private interiors are visible, but copyright and family-authorship questions may still require review before publication or commercial use.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1946 8mm home movie title card, Harrisburg Pennsylvania family film, vintage Christmas greeting card, and postwar American home movie.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then Harrisburg or 1946 family-film material, then broader Christmas, home-movie, and domestic-life themes.
