Large Crowd Gathered on Muddy Field — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1945, this vintage footage captures a large gathering of people outdoors in France, likely a wartime assembly or community event. The scene is bathed in a deep purple hue, characteristic of aged film stock, with visible grain and a low-resolution quality. A massive crowd sits and stands in organized rows on a muddy field, with scattered puddles reflecting the dim light. In the foreground, a smaller group of individuals stands together, possibly officials or leaders. The overall mood is somber and historical, evoking a sense of collective memory from the post-war era.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s France archive requests needing a brief outdoor crowd assembly shot for documentary, museum, education, or editorial context.
Period detail: The clip may show a 1945 public gathering in France, with people arranged in rows on open wet ground and no clear landmarks visible.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the distant, observer-style home-movie view of a large group gathered outdoors rather than posed action or staged performance.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a large seated crowd, smaller standing groups, muddy ground, puddles, open field edges, and dark film-frame borders.
Film character: The 8mm footage has heavy purple color shift, soft focus, visible grain, uneven exposure, and a contact-print feel that signals aged physical film.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short establishing insert, historical memory beat, or cutaway for postwar community gathering material.
Historical context: The scene suggests collective outdoor assembly in a wet open area, but the frames do not confirm the event, organization, or purpose.
Research note: People are visible at a distance, so likeness and event identification should be reviewed separately from any copyright or source-license assessment.
Research search match: Search phrases might include 1940s France 8mm crowd gathering, purple-tinted home movie assembly, and postwar outdoor public meeting footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with nearby shots from the same reel, then with France 1945 footage, then with broader crowd, assembly, or postwar public-life material.
