Native American Totem Poles With Serene Green And Blue... — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1977, this vintage home movie captures two intricately carved totem poles standing in front of a long, low building with dark windows. The poles feature traditional Native American designs, including animal figures and stylized faces. The footage has a distinct blue and green color cast, characteristic of aged film, with visible grain and light leaks. The final frame shifts to a close-up of a painted totem pole with a bird-like face, set against a misty shoreline with water and distant trees. The overall mood is calm and nostalgic, evoking a sense of cultural heritage and serene natural surroundings.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s Alaska archive requests needing visitor-shot 8mm views of Native American totem poles, cultural display objects, or quiet travel cutaways.
Period detail: The frames may show a 1977 home-movie visit to an Alaska site, with carved poles outside a low building and a painted pole by a misty shoreline.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has an unstaged visitor perspective, holding briefly on carved poles as a travel memory rather than a formal survey.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include carved totem poles, a low building with dark windows, pale grass, a painted pole, shoreline water, trees, and distant landforms.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, visible grain, blue-green color shift, gate edges, and slight handheld framing that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short cultural-travel insert, reflective transition, or memory beat between broader Alaska landscape or heritage sequences.
Historical context: The footage visually places carved and painted Indigenous cultural forms within a tourist or public outdoor setting, without identifying the maker, nation, or site.
Research note: No people or brands are visible, but cultural attribution, site ownership, artwork rights, and permissions for depicted carvings may still require review.
Research search match: Likely matches searches for 1977 Alaska 8mm totem poles, vintage home movie Native American carvings, shoreline totem pole, and cultural travel footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with the same reel, then other Alaska 1977 travel footage, then related 1970s 8mm clips of totem poles, Indigenous artwork, or coastal scenery.
