Shot on 8mm film in 1972, this vintage home movie captures a vast, sun-drenched landscape in Idaho. A prominent, grassy mountain rises against a bright blue sky dotted with scattered white clouds. The foreground features a dark, volcanic-looking plain with sparse evergreen trees. Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s Idaho or Western U.S. documentary edits needing an 8mm scenic landscape insert without people or commercial signage.
Period detail: The 1972 date is supported by metadata, while the visible clues are the home-movie color palette, soft exposure, and undeveloped open terrain.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has the feel of a traveler pausing to record a broad view from a roadside or overlook rather than staging a formal landscape shot.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a rounded grassy hill, dark open plain, scattered evergreen trees, distant mountains, blue sky, small white clouds, and film-frame borders.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, visible grain, slight color fading toward purple and green, and gentle handheld framing that adds period texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a quiet scenic cutaway, establishing insert, transition between travel scenes, or reflective memory beat.
Historical context: The footage documents a rural Idaho landscape as seen by a home-movie camera in the early 1970s, without visible people, buildings, vehicles, or signage.
Research note: No faces, logos, or obvious private property are visible, but copyright, location verification, and any landscape access issues should still be reviewed.
Research search match: Likely search matches include 1972 Idaho 8mm mountain landscape, vintage home movie scenic hills, and 1970s Western U.S. nature footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1972 Idaho footage, then broader 1970s rural mountain and open-landscape scenes.
