People Wearing Red Coats Walk On Snow Covered Mountains On A — Clip Details

ALASKA USA-1977: A group of hikers in bright red coats treks across a snow-covered mountain slope, their figures small against the vast, rugged landscape. The 8mm film captures a dramatic alpine scene with a glacial lake nestled between rocky peaks under an overcast sky. The footage shows a line of climbers moving steadily along the snowy ridge, with a small orange flag marking the path. The grainy, color-bleached quality of the vintage Super 8 home movie evokes a sense of adventure and isolation in the remote Alaskan wilderness.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s archival requests needing Alaskan alpine hiking, glacial lake scenery, or small human figures crossing snow in a remote mountain landscape.
Period detail: The red outdoor coats and 8mm color home-movie texture support the supplied 1977 context, though the visible frames do not identify a specific mountain or route.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged travel-party view of hikers moving carefully across snow while the camera watches from nearby and then widens to the surrounding terrain.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include red-coated hikers, an orange route flag, snow slopes, dark rocky ridges, glacial lakes, distant mountains, overcast sky, and film-frame borders.
Film character: Soft 8mm color, visible grain, slight fading, handheld framing, and contact-frame edges give the footage a period home-movie character.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, travel transition, expedition cutaway, or memory beat between broader Alaska wilderness or outdoor recreation scenes.
Historical context: The footage shows recreational travel in a rugged Alaskan alpine setting, emphasizing scale as small hikers cross snow beneath broad lake-and-mountain views.
Research note: People are visible at a distance, so likeness review may still be needed; no logos, private property, or audible music are indicated, and copyright clearance is separate.
Research search match: Researcher searches might include 1977 Alaska 8mm hiking, red coats on snow slope, glacial lake mountains, vintage alpine trek, and Super 8 wilderness travel.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other Alaska 1977 mountain footage, then broader 1970s hiking, snow travel, or wilderness recreation material.
