Scapegoat Wilderness Montana USA — Clip Details

A vintage 8mm home movie clip from 1973 shows a projected vicinity map of the Scapegoat Wilderness in Montana. The slide, likely part of a presentation, displays a hand-drawn map with roads, towns like Kalispell, Missoula, and Lincoln, and the wilderness area highlighted. The image has a distinct purple tint and film grain, characteristic of old Super 8 projection. This archival footage captures a moment of planning or travel information sharing from the early 1970s.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for a 1970s documentary insert showing public-land orientation, Montana travel planning, or wilderness-area presentation material from an 8mm home-movie source.
Period detail: The projected slide, hand-drawn road lines, labeled towns, and purple 8mm color cast support a 1970s presentation or travel-planning context.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves the viewer's seat-facing perspective on a projected informational slide rather than a staged landscape or formal map reproduction.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a vicinity map title, Scapegoat Wilderness label, Montana town names, red road routes, a highlighted area, and projector-frame borders.
Film character: The footage has dense grain, soft projection focus, purple color shift, slight frame jitter, and contact-sheet edge darkness typical of scanned small-gauge film.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a brief map cutaway, location-establishing insert, planning transition, or archival context beat before Montana wilderness footage.
Historical context: The slide visually situates Scapegoat Wilderness in relation to towns such as Kalispell, Missoula, Augusta, Browning, and Lincoln without showing people or activity.
Research note: No people, logos, or private property are visible, but map artwork and slide authorship may still need copyright or source-context review.
Research search match: Likely matches searches for 1970s 8mm Montana vicinity map, Scapegoat Wilderness presentation slide, wilderness travel planning film, or projected map cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel footage, then other 1973 Montana or Scapegoat Wilderness material, then broader archival clips of maps, trail planning, and public-land travel.
