A View Of Dry Rocky Conditions Surrounded By Wildlife — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1972, this vintage home movie captures a rugged, arid landscape in Idaho. The footage opens with a wide aerial view of volcanic cones and winding dirt roads under a hazy sky, followed by a close-up of a small rodent scurrying across a rocky slope. The final frames show a blurry, dark scene, possibly a cave entrance or shadowed terrain. The film exhibits classic Super 8 grain, color shifts, and a nostalgic, unfiltered quality, offering authentic archival footage of nature and wildlife in a remote, dry environment.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s Idaho home-movie requests needing arid volcanic terrain, rocky wildlife cutaways, or remote western landscape context.
Period detail: The frames may show 1972 8mm travel footage, with visible clues limited to faded color, handheld framing, dirt roads, open rocky land, and wildlife on stone.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has an unstaged visitor or family-film perspective, shifting from a distant scenic overlook to quick, observational wildlife shots.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include volcanic-looking hills, winding dirt roads, rocky slopes, scrubby vegetation, a small dark animal, hazy sky, and heavy frame borders.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows coarse grain, violet color shift, soft focus, exposure variation, and contact-sheet frame edges that read as physical-film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief landscape insert, wildlife cutaway, dry-country transition, or memory beat within a western travel sequence.
Historical context: The footage visually documents recreational observation of dry Idaho terrain and wildlife without supporting a specific landmark or event claim.
Research note: Metadata flags people visible in the clip, so likeness review may be needed even though sampled frames emphasize landscape and wildlife; copyright clearance is separate.
Research search match: Search matches include 1972 Idaho 8mm landscape, vintage home movie wildlife, rocky dry terrain, western dirt roads, and small animal on rocks.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with the same reel, then other Idaho 1972 footage, then 1970s western landscapes, arid travel scenes, or home-movie wildlife cutaways.
