Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s Long Beach port footage suited for documentary or editorial sequences about cruise travel, ocean liners, departure rituals, or leisure tourism.
Period detail: The uniformed announcer, dock windows, ocean liner decks, lifeboats, and signal flags support an early-1970s port travel setting.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has a visitor-shot perspective, moving from a dockside announcement toward close exterior views of the ship rather than staged coverage.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a uniformed woman with microphone, dock windows, railings, a large white passenger ship, lifeboats, rows of windows, mast rigging, and flags.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, visible grain, warm exposure shifts, dark frame edges, and handheld framing that preserve the home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief arrival or departure insert, a cruise-travel transition, or a memory beat before broader ship or port coverage.
Historical context: The footage visually documents public-facing passenger travel at a California port, with emphasis on shipboard scale and dockside announcement activity.
Research note: Faces are visible and likeness review may be needed; no logos are apparent, but copyright, privacy, and location context should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Useful search phrases include 1971 Long Beach cruise ship dock, 8mm ocean liner announcement, uniformed woman microphone, and vintage port travel footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel cruise or dock shots, then with 1971 Long Beach harbor material, then with broader ocean-liner travel scenes.
