Water Fountain Display Surrounded By Flowers At Night — Clip Details

A vintage 8mm film clip from 1969 captures a water fountain display in California, its spray illuminated against a dark, classical-style building. The fountain's central jet arcs high, surrounded by a circular pool and a bed of colorful flowers in the foreground. The footage exhibits the characteristic grain and color saturation of Super 8 home movies, with a cool blue-purple tint suggesting nighttime or low-light conditions. The scene is framed by dark borders, enhancing its nostalgic, archival quality.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1969 California home-movie footage suits documentary or museum requests for nighttime public fountain displays, landscaped civic spaces, and period travel cutaways.
Period detail: The clip may show a late-1960s visitor view of an illuminated fountain, flower beds, and a classical-style building facade seen in low light.
Home-movie behavior: The camera holds on the lit water spray from a visitor's viewpoint, valuing the spectacle of a public fountain rather than staged action.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a central water jet, arcing spray, circular pool, flower bed, dark building facade, lit windows, and heavy film-frame borders.
Film character: The 8mm footage has blue-purple low-light color, soft focus, visible grain, gate shadowing, and slight exposure bloom around the illuminated water.
Edit role: Editors can use this as a brief nighttime insert, travel-memory transition, civic landscape cutaway, or atmospheric pause between California home-movie scenes.
Historical context: The scene reflects a leisure or sightseeing record of a landscaped fountain display, with the surrounding architecture kept largely in shadow.
Research note: People are flagged in the clip metadata, so likeness review may be needed even though no clear faces are legible; copyright and property status should be checked separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1969 California 8mm fountain at night, illuminated water fountain home movie, and vintage public garden fountain footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1969 California travel footage, then broader vintage fountain, garden, and nighttime landmark scenes.
