Bottom Of Words And Image Of A Statue Of A Brown — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Big Sur, California, 1980, showing a close-up of a wooden totem pole carving. The image, likely from a book or magazine, features a carved face with prominent eyes, nose, and mouth in warm brown tones against a dark purple background. The film exhibits classic Super 8 grain, color shifts, and slight camera shake, capturing a nostalgic, archival moment of indigenous art. The shot remains static, focusing on the intricate details of the sculpture.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1980s archive requests needing a brief home-movie insert of printed or displayed sculptural art from a Big Sur travel reel.
Period detail: The frames show a Super 8-era close view of a printed page or display with partial lettering above a brown carved face, consistent with the supplied 1980 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The clip holds on the artwork from a visitor's observational perspective, suggesting someone filming a page, placard, or display detail rather than a staged scene.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a brown carved face, prominent eye and nose, dark purple field, white page border, partial red lettering, film gate edges, and contact-sheet duplication.
Film character: The footage carries dense 8mm grain, warm color drift, soft focus, slight exposure variation, and visible frame edges that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short cutaway, research insert, or memory beat within a sequence about travel, museum viewing, printed art, or 1980s amateur filming.
Historical context: The clip appears to document a reproduction or display of carved cultural artwork, but the frames do not identify the maker, community, source publication, or institution.
Research note: No people, brands, or private interiors are visible, but copyright in the printed or displayed artwork may require separate review from likeness or property concerns.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1980 Big Sur 8mm footage, Super 8 close-up of carved face, home movie of printed artwork, and brown totem-style sculpture detail.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with nearby shots from the same reel, then other Big Sur 1980 material, then broader clips of visitor-filmed art, books, displays, or carved figures.
