Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: This clip supports 1950s aviation, amphibious aircraft, and small-airfield documentary edits needing a short archival insert of a parked water airplane with its propeller running.
Period detail: The footage shows mid-century home-movie color, an 8mm source look, a grass airfield, a hangar-like building, and an amphibious aircraft marked 2228 in Yucaipa, California per supplied metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The camera holds a visitor-like view of the aircraft from the side, preserving the unstaged presence of a person in the cockpit while the plane remains on the grass.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include the amphibious airplane, spinning propeller, open cockpit door, person in the cockpit, number 2228, grass field, hangar structure, and trees behind it.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm grain, purple-blue color shift, mild exposure variation, and slight motion blur that read as physical-film texture from a home-movie scan.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a cutaway, aviation insert, transition beat, or memory detail within a sequence about small aircraft, flying clubs, or mid-century recreation.
Historical context: The scene places a small amphibious aircraft in a modest grass-field airfield setting, suggesting private or recreational aviation without proving ownership or event context.
Research note: Human likeness and aircraft markings are visible, so clearance review should distinguish copyright in the footage from possible likeness, registration, or property concerns.
Research search match: Useful searches include 1959 8mm amphibious airplane, Yucaipa California airfield, water plane on grass, vintage home movie aircraft propeller, and plane number 2228.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1959 Yucaipa aviation footage, then broader mid-century small-airfield or amphibious-aircraft material.
