Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Fills 1970s Florida urban and residential architecture requests for documentary, social history, or nostalgic commercial productions needing authentic Super 8 period footage.
Period detail: The building's repeated horizontal balcony bands, metal railings, and flat rectangular windows are consistent with early-1970s Florida condominium construction; warm-saturated 8mm stock supports the 1974 date.
Home-movie behavior: The slow hand-held upward tilt reads as an amateur filmmaker pausing to document a structure impressive enough to warrant its own shot, typical of home-movie local-pride or tourist footage.
What appears in frame: Cream-painted condominium facade, repeating horizontal balconies with metal railings, square windows some with blinds, deep blue Florida sky, dark film-strip edge vignette, and soft warm grain.
Film character: Warm-saturated 8mm stock renders the cream facade in golden tones; visible grain, soft edge focus, mild barrel distortion at frame borders, and dark vignette strips add physical-film texture.
Edit role: Useful as an architectural establishing shot or short cutaway in a 1970s Florida urban or residential development sequence; the upward tilt can support a narration beat.
Historical context: High-rise condominium construction expanded rapidly across Florida in the early 1970s; this footage may reflect that growth as seen through a resident or visitor's 8mm camera.
Research note: No people are visible; this is an exterior architectural shot. US architectural copyright generally does not restrict depiction of publicly visible buildings, but researchers should verify applicable provisions.
Research search match: Likely matches searches for 1970s Florida apartment building, condominium exterior home movie, Super 8 residential architecture, or vintage high-rise USA footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other clips from the same Gainesville 1974 shoot, then with 1970s Florida urban or residential footage, then with Super 8 home-movie architectural subjects.
