Skier Falling From Jump In Air — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from 1962 captures a dramatic ski jump sequence in New York. A skier in a yellow and black outfit launches into the air, arms outstretched against a deep blue sky, before losing balance and falling onto the snowy slope. The grainy, color-bleached film shows spectators on a platform and bare winter trees, with motion blur emphasizing the speed and impact of the fall. This authentic, unscripted moment reflects the era's recreational sports and home movie culture.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports 1960s recreational sports requests needing authentic home-movie ski jump and fall footage for documentary, education, or editorial inserts.
Period detail: The clip shows 1962 8mm winter sports footage with long wooden skis, simple slope infrastructure, bare trees, and color home-movie stock typical of the period.
Home-movie behavior: The value is an unstaged spectator-shot moment as a skier jumps, loses balance, and falls while nearby onlookers watch from the snowy hill.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a skier in motion, a jump crest, spectators, a raised platform, bare winter trees, snow-covered slopes, long skis, and heavy motion blur.
Film character: The 8mm scan has soft focus, visible grain, color shift, uneven exposure, and handheld framing that preserve the physical texture of a home movie reel.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief action insert, comic memory beat, winter recreation cutaway, or transition within a sequence about amateur skiing.
Historical context: The footage reflects mid-century leisure filming, with a home camera recording informal winter sport rather than a staged athletic event.
Research note: People and faces appear at a distance, so likeness review may be needed; no logos or private property are visible, and copyright clearance is separate.
Research search match: Useful searches include 1960s 8mm ski jump fall, New York home movie skiing, vintage winter sports footage, and amateur skier accident reel.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel shots, then other New York 1962 winter footage, then broader 1960s amateur skiing, snow recreation, or home-movie sports scenes.
