Ski Jump Competition with Skier in Red and White — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from 1962 capturing a dramatic ski jumping competition in New York. A skier in a red and white uniform launches from the ramp against a deep blue sky, with bare winter trees framing the scene. The grainy, color-bleached film shows motion blur during the jump and a final impact on the snowy slope. Spectators in winter coats watch from the sidelines, adding to the authentic, nostalgic atmosphere of a mid-century winter sports event.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports 1960s New York winter sports requests needing authentic amateur footage of a ski jump competition and a brief crash or landing moment.
Period detail: The 8mm color stock, winter clothing, simple bib-style competitor outfit, and metadata-supported 1962 New York setting place the scene in early-1960s recreational sport culture.
Home-movie behavior: The handheld framing follows the skier from ramp to slope with abrupt motion and missed edges, preserving the immediacy of a spectator-filmed home movie.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a ski jumper, red-and-white clothing, a jump ramp or tower, blue sky, bare winter trees, snow, and a dark shape on the landing slope.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm grain, saturated blue color, exposure variation, gate edges, and motion blur that read as original home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a brief insert for mid-century sport, winter recreation, amateur spectacle, or a memory beat before or after ski competition coverage.
Historical context: The footage shows organized winter recreation with a visible jumper and snowy landing area, without enough visual evidence to identify the event or venue.
Research note: People are visible at a distance, so likeness review may be needed; no logos are apparent, and copyright, location, and event rights should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1962 New York ski jump, 8mm winter sports footage, amateur ski competition, vintage skier crash, and Super 8 snow recreation.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then with 1962 New York winter scenes, and finally with broader archival clips of skiing, snow sports, or amateur competitions.
