Sea Lions Swim and Jump in Pool Performance — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from California, USA, in 1962, showing sea lions performing in a pool. The grainy, color-bleached film captures the animals leaping from the pool edge and swimming through turquoise water, with white star-shaped patterns visible on the pool floor. The footage has a nostalgic, archival quality with natural film grain and slight motion blur, typical of amateur Super 8 recordings from the early 1960s. A person in light-colored clothing stands at the poolside, observing the performance.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s California leisure, aquarium, marine park, or animal performance sequences needing authentic home-movie pool footage.
Period detail: The color 8mm look, poolside setting, light clothing, and filmed spectator angle support an early-1960s visitor-shot scene in California.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an amateur visitor's view of trained sea lions moving through a pool during a public-style performance.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include sea lions, turquoise pool water, a pale pool edge, star-shaped floor markings, splashes, and a standing poolside figure.
Film character: Soft focus, color fading, visible grain, slight blur, and handheld framing give the footage a physical 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, memory beat, or cutaway for vintage animal shows, California recreation, or family travel footage.
Historical context: The scene reflects midcentury leisure filming around captive marine animals without identifying the venue or making claims about the performance.
Research note: A poolside person is visible, so likeness review may be needed separately from copyright, with no logos or children apparent in these frames.
Research search match: Search matches include 1962 California 8mm sea lions, vintage marine animal pool show, home movie aquarium performance, and retro sea lion swimming footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel material, then other 1962 California travel footage, then broader vintage marine park or animal performance scenes.
