Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Serves 1950s American social history requests — mid-century company holiday party in a private home, useful for workplace culture, Christmas nostalgia, or postwar domestic life documentaries.

Period detail

An aluminum tinsel Christmas tree with colored lights, men in formal and business-casual dress, and a brass candlestick lamp all suggest late-1950s American domestic décor and corporate party customs.

Home-movie behavior

A man covering his face in apparent laughter and guests posing candidly toward the camera capture the uninhibited social warmth of amateur party footage that staged productions rarely replicate.

What appears in frame

Man in dark formal jacket with pocket square, seated man in white shirt and bold striped tie, aluminum tinsel Christmas tree with colored lights, liquor bottles on party table, wrapped gifts, lit candle on brass holder, striped upholstered sofa.

Film character

Warm green-amber color cast, moderate 8mm grain, slight overexposure on bright surfaces, and dark film-sprocket borders give this footage the soft-edged texture characteristic of mid-century amateur color film.

Edit role

Best used as a holiday social-atmosphere insert or cutaway in documentaries on 1950s American workplace culture, postwar consumer prosperity, or mid-century domestic life.

Historical context

The aluminum tinsel tree and apparent employer-hosted gathering reflect postwar American prosperity and a corporate social culture in which company Christmas parties were a widespread workplace tradition.
