Nebraska USA-1957: Woman Holding Red Teddy Bear at Christmas Gathering

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Fits documentary and commercial briefs calling for mid-century American domestic Christmas footage, especially 1950s family holiday gift-giving for nostalgic cutaways or period-drama inserts.

Period detail

Woman's framed glasses, green beaded necklace, and light knit sweater are consistent with late-1950s American women's casual fashion; a lit Christmas tree and tabletop bottles in the background suggest a mid-century domestic setting.

Home-movie behavior

Candid, unposed interaction as a woman displays a gift toy to a companion while others cluster nearby reflects the informal spontaneity of a private family Christmas captured without staging.

What appears in frame

Frames show a woman in glasses and a green beaded necklace holding a bright red stuffed toy bear, a man in a white shirt with a striped tie, a lit Christmas tree in the upper background, tabletop bottles, and additional figures in a dim living-room interior.

Film character

Warm color cast, visible grain, and slight exposure variation across shots are characteristic of original 8mm home-movie film from the late 1950s, lending an authentic period texture difficult to replicate digitally.

Edit role

Works as a nostalgic holiday insert, memory cutaway, or period-establishing B-roll in a documentary on mid-century American family life or Christmas gift-giving traditions.

Historical context

The domestic gift-giving tableau and casual dress reflect postwar American suburban holiday culture of the late 1950s, a period of growing consumer prosperity and strong emphasis on family-centered celebration.

Research note

Multiple identifiable adult faces are visible throughout; one partially obscured background figure in the opening frames warrants review for a possible minor; footage depicts a private residential interior—confirm licensing terms cover likeness and private-property use.
