South Dakota USA-1956: Woman Wearing White Shirt Stands By Tree Sits On Porch

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits documentary segments on 1950s American domestic life, mid-century fashion, or personal memory sequences requiring authentic period portraiture.

Period detail

White button-up shirt, plaid midi skirt, and short dark hair are consistent with mid-1950s women's everyday fashion; bare street trees and background vehicles may indicate a late-season or early-spring day.

Home-movie behavior

A family member photographs a woman posing first on the porch then beside a mature street tree, the easy directed posing typical of amateur mid-century home portrait sessions.

What appears in frame

Woman in white collared shirt and plaid skirt, porch railing and double-hung window, large textured tree trunk, residential street, bare deciduous trees, dark parked vehicles in background, sparse lawn.

Film character

A cool blue-green color shift, moderate grain, and soft edge definition characteristic of aged 8mm stock from the mid-1950s give the footage an intimate period texture.

Edit role

Works as a personal-portrait cutaway or memory beat in 1950s American life sequences; the porch-to-street location change within the clip offers a natural scene transition.

Historical context

Mid-century American women's casual daywear, white collared shirt and plaid skirt, reflects postwar consumer fashion norms; the quiet residential street suggests a small-town or suburban setting.

Research note

The woman's face is clearly visible in all frames; likeness rights cannot be presumed cleared and require independent verification before editorial or commercial use.
