Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s U.S. home-movie requests needing summer lake recreation, swimming, or family-vacation atmosphere from original 8mm footage.
Period detail: The dark one-piece swimsuit, white swim cap, saturated color, and 8mm home-movie handling support a mid-1950s vacation-recreation reading.
Home-movie behavior: The woman appears relaxed and playful, turning toward the camera, splashing, and handling a yellow buoy in an unstaged lake scene.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a woman in lake water, a white swim cap, a dark swimsuit, a yellow barrel buoy, rippled blue water, floating vegetation, and a forested shoreline.
Film character: The scan carries visible 8mm grain, soft focus, blue-biased color, handheld framing, edge falloff, and slight motion blur that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, summer-memory cutaway, vacation transition, or light recreation beat within a mid-century family sequence.
Historical context: The clip shows informal outdoor leisure at a wooded lake, reflecting a private home-movie view of warm-weather recreation rather than a documented public event.
Research note: A recognizable face is visible, and rights review should consider likeness permissions, copyright status, and the metadata flag for possible logos or brands.
Research search match: Likely matches searches for 1950s 8mm lake swimming, South Dakota home movie, woman in swim cap, yellow buoy, summer vacation footage, and mid-century recreation.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other South Dakota 1954 lake material, then broader 1950s swimming and family-vacation footage.
