Ice Skating Women Surrounded By Cornfields — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from North Dakota, USA, in 1953, showing women ice skating on a frozen pond surrounded by cornfields. The grainy, color-graded film captures a woman in a dark coat and white skates gliding across the ice, with another person in a red coat skating nearby. A classic car is parked on the grassy bank in the background under a muted sky. The footage exhibits natural film grain, slight camera shake, and the characteristic color palette of mid-century home movies, evoking a nostalgic, rural winter recreation scene.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports 1950s rural United States recreation requests needing authentic home-movie footage of outdoor winter ice skating.
Period detail: The 8mm color footage may show mid-century winter clothing, white figure skates, and an older parked car near open agricultural fields.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves casual, unstaged skating as people glide, turn, and move across a frozen pond from a family-film viewpoint.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two skaters, dark and red coats, white skates, blue ice, grassy field edges, open cropland, and a parked car.
Film character: The footage has visible 8mm grain, soft focus, handheld framing, gate edges, and warm-to-blue color shifts typical of scanned home movies.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, rural winter transition, recreation cutaway, or memory beat in a 1950s family-life sequence.
Historical context: The scene reflects informal outdoor leisure in a rural setting, with skaters using a frozen pond bordered by fields rather than a formal rink.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so likeness review may be needed even though no logos or audible music are indicated; copyright clearance is separate.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1950s North Dakota home movie ice skating, rural frozen pond skating, 8mm winter recreation, and women skaters in fields.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with same-reel winter scenes, then other 1953 North Dakota rural footage, then broader mid-century skating or outdoor recreation clips.
