Four Men Shooting Rifles at Outdoor Range — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from California USA in 1936 shows four men at an outdoor shooting range. Dressed in period attire including hats and vests, they stand behind a concrete wall, aiming long rifles. The grainy, color-bleached film captures their focused expressions and casual camaraderie as they take turns shooting. The arid, rocky landscape and natural lighting evoke a nostalgic, mid-20th century American recreational scene. This authentic archival clip offers a glimpse into historical leisure activities and firearms culture of the era.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1930s California home-movie requests needing recreational firearms, outdoor range activity, or period leisure footage for documentary inserts.
Period detail: The men’s brimmed hats, vests, long guns, and informal outdoor setup support a 1930s recreational shooting scene, with the California date supplied by clip metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The footage has the informal feel of companions taking turns and acknowledging the camera rather than a staged demonstration.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include four men, long rifles, brimmed hats, a low concrete wall, rocky ground, dry brush, and an outdoor shooting-range setting.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, visible grain, muted color, slight exposure variation, and contact-frame edges that preserve a home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief cutaway, period leisure insert, firearms-culture reference, or memory beat within a 1930s American sequence.
Historical context: The clip visually documents recreational shooting as a social outdoor activity, while broader claims about gun culture should be supported by outside research.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so likeness and contextual use should be reviewed separately from any copyright or footage-license questions.
Research search match: Search matches include 1930s California home movie outdoor rifle range, men shooting long guns, vintage 8mm recreation, and early color home-movie firearms footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then other California 1936 home movies, then related outdoor sport, leisure, and firearms-range scenes.
