Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1950s Wisconsin 8mm home-movie footage suited to documentary or editorial needs for lakeside recreation, small boating, and summer swimming.
Period detail: The small outboard boat, casual swimwear, soft color, and metadata-supported 1958 date place the scene in a mid-century leisure setting.
Home-movie behavior: The footage preserves an unstaged family or vacation perspective, with people standing in a boat and others swimming near a quiet shoreline.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a small motorboat, two standing figures, swimmers in open water, a tree-lined shore, lake ripples, and film-frame borders.
Film character: The clip carries a blue-purple faded 8mm look with soft focus, visible grain, scratches, and contact-sheet frame edges that reinforce its home-movie origin.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a summer memory insert, lake recreation cutaway, quiet transition, or mid-century family leisure beat.
Historical context: The scene reflects everyday outdoor recreation in Wisconsin, showing boating and swimming without signage, landmarks, or identifiable public events.
Research note: People are visible at a distance, so likeness review may be needed; no logos or private property are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate from depicted-person rights.
Research search match: Useful search phrasing includes 1958 Wisconsin 8mm lake swimming, vintage home movie motorboat, mid-century summer recreation, and family lake footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1958 Wisconsin lake scenes, then broader boating, swimming, and summer vacation home movies.
