Stock Footage Of Old Faithful Geyser Eruption — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from 1939 captures Old Faithful Geyser erupting in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. A white informational sign labeled 'OLD FAITHFUL GEYSER' stands in the foreground, with text describing its eruption height and intervals. In the background, a large plume of steam and water shoots skyward against a forested backdrop. A person in period clothing is briefly visible near the sign during the eruption. The clip exhibits classic Super 8 film characteristics: grainy texture, soft focus, and slightly faded color tones, offering authentic archival footage of early 20th-century tourism and natural wonder.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1930s documentary or museum sequences needing visitor-shot footage of Old Faithful erupting in Yellowstone National Park.
Period detail: The white Old Faithful Geyser information sign, period visitor clothing, and 8mm color home-movie look support a late-1930s tourism context.
Home-movie behavior: The clip carries a visitor-shot viewpoint, lingering on the park sign and geyser plume rather than staging people for the camera.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include the Old Faithful sign, steaming geyser basin, white eruption plume, distant tree line, pale sky, and a briefly seen visitor.
Film character: Soft focus, visible grain, slight color fading, gate marks, and uneven exposure give the footage a physical 8mm archive texture.
Edit role: Editors could use this as a natural-history insert, Yellowstone travel cutaway, or brief memory beat within a tourism or park-history sequence.
Historical context: The footage shows early national-park sightseeing around a famous geothermal feature, with interpretation signage placed close to the viewing area.
Research note: Copyright status, location permissions, and any recognizable visitor likeness should be reviewed separately; no logos are apparent in these frames.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1930s 8mm Yellowstone footage, Old Faithful geyser eruption, vintage national park tourism, and Wyoming home movies.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with the same reel, then other 1939 Yellowstone or Wyoming clips, then broader vintage national-park and geothermal-feature footage.
