Hoboken New Jersey USA-1966: Women In Red And Yellow Opening Gift During Christmas Morning

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits documentary or commercial productions needing authentic mid-1960s domestic Christmas footage with period consumer electronics and home décor.

Period detail

A small CRT television, tinsel-icicle tree trimmings, a RadioShack retail box, and the women's clothing silhouettes are consistent with mid-1960s American domestic interiors.

Home-movie behavior

The two women move naturally, leaning in to inspect gifts without any awareness of performance, giving the scene the unguarded quality typical of family-operated 8mm cameras.

What appears in frame

Decorated Christmas tree with multicolored lights and tinsel, two women in yellow and red sweaters, several small portable electronic devices on the floor, a RadioShack retail box, a small CRT television, wood-paneled walls, a couch edge, and a partially visible man in a dark jacket.

Film character

The footage carries the warm color cast and visible grain characteristic of mid-1960s 8mm reversal film, with slight edge vignetting and gentle handheld camera movement throughout.

Edit role

Works as a memory beat or period insert in documentary segments on mid-century holiday traditions, consumer culture, or postwar American domestic life.

Historical context

The RadioShack retail box among the gifts reflects the growing American consumer-electronics market of the 1960s, when branded electronics were becoming common household Christmas gifts.

Research note

Adult faces are identifiable on camera; the RadioShack brand name is visible on packaging. Private interior footage requires editorial or fair-use review; no likeness releases are documented.

Research search match

Likely matches researcher queries such as 1960s Christmas home movie, mid-century family holiday footage, vintage 8mm gift opening, or 1960s American living room holiday.

Archive pairing path

Pair first with other clips from the same reel or family collection; then with 1960s Hoboken or New Jersey domestic footage; then with mid-century American Christmas or consumer-electronics-gift scenes.
