Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Fits requests for 1960s American formal dance footage, social event documentation, or vintage couple romance B-roll for documentary and commercial productions.
Period detail: White tuxedo jacket, full-skirted teal ballgown, and white stiletto heels are consistent with mid-1960s formal eveningwear; deep red pleated curtain suggests a ballroom or event hall.
Home-movie behavior: A family member or friend filmed the dance-floor sequence as an informal record of a formal occasion, capturing the choreography from a stationary position close to the couple.
What appears in frame: Teal full-skirted ballgown, white tuxedo jacket with black bow tie, white high heels, deep red pleated curtain backdrop, dance dip sequence, warm tungsten interior lighting, visible 8mm grain.
Film character: Warm tungsten color cast, visible 8mm grain structure, slight exposure variation between frames, and gentle edge falloff are characteristic of mid-1960s 8mm home-movie stock.
Edit role: Works as a romantic memory beat or era-establishing insert in 1960s social-history timelines; the low dip moment offers a natural cut point for transitions.
Historical context: Formal couple dancing at what appears to be a prom, cotillion, or private banquet reflects mid-1960s American social ritual and eveningwear fashion conventions.
Research note: Adult individuals are identifiable in multiple frames; likeness rights should be assessed before any editorial or commercial use, and copyright status of the source film verified independently.
Research search match: Researchers may query '1960s couple dancing,' 'formal dance home movie,' 'vintage ballroom 8mm,' 'prom dance 1965,' or 'mid-century American social event footage.'
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other clips from this reel or donor collection; then with Saint Louis 1960s social event footage; then with mid-century American formal dance or coming-of-age sequences.
