Man Skiing Across Lake From Dock View — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Colorado USA in 1959 captures a man water skiing across a calm lake. Shot from a dock with wooden posts and a small American flag in the foreground, the clip shows the skier in a yellow swimsuit gliding across the water, leaving a white wake. The scene is framed by dark borders, with a rural shoreline and trees visible in the distance under an overcast sky. The film exhibits natural grain, slight motion blur, and authentic color fading typical of mid-century home movies, evoking a nostalgic, summertime vacation atmosphere.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for requests needing 1950s Colorado vacation footage, mid-century lake recreation, or brief water-skiing inserts from real 8mm home movies.
Period detail: The 8mm color stock, dockside viewpoint, modest swimwear, and small flag foreground support a late-1950s home-movie reading without identifying a specific lake.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged dockside view as someone films a skier crossing the lake during a casual summer outing.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include lake water, a distant water skier, white wake, dock posts, dark film borders, a small American flag, shoreline trees, and hazy sky.
Film character: Soft focus, grain, slight motion blur, faded color, and visible frame edges give the footage a physical 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short recreation insert, vacation-memory beat, lake transition, or mid-century leisure cutaway.
Historical context: The scene reflects postwar-style family leisure and water recreation as seen through a private home-movie camera, without confirming the lake or participants.
Research note: A person is visible at distance and a small American flag appears; copyright, likeness, and any location permissions should be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Searches this may match include 1959 Colorado 8mm lake vacation, vintage water skiing home movie, dock view lake recreation, and mid-century summer sport footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel vacation material, then other Colorado 1959 lake footage, then broader 1950s water-sport and family recreation clips.
