Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

1970s New York City harbor footage suited for documentary or educational requests needing a maritime cutaway with an urban skyline in original 8mm home-movie texture.

Period detail

The 1976 metadata and the visible high-rise skyline, small motorboat, and large multi-masted sailing vessel place the view in a mid-1970s urban harbor setting.

Home-movie behavior

The clip has the feel of a visitor filming from across the water, holding on the harbor scene as the motorboat passes in front of the anchored sailing ship.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include dark contact-sheet borders, open harbor water, a small white motorboat, a large white multi-masted sailing ship, distant high-rise buildings, rigging, and a blue sky cast.

Film character

The 8mm scan shows blue color shift, soft focus, visible grain, light scratches, gate edges, and slight frame-to-frame movement that give the scene physical home-movie character.

Edit role

An editor could use this as a brief establishing insert, waterfront transition, maritime cutaway, or memory beat linking New York City to harbor activity.

Historical context

The scene visually contrasts recreational or harbor boating with dense urban development, without confirming the vessel identity or a specific public event from the frames alone.

Research note

No people, children, logos, or audible music are indicated, but vessel identity, skyline buildings, copyright status, and any property or location permissions should be reviewed separately.
