Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s home-movie requests needing brief recreational boating footage for documentary, education, museum, or editorial sequences about summer leisure in the Boston area.
Period detail: The striped shirt, small pleasure boat windshield, motorboat activity, and color-faded 8mm texture may show mid-1970s lakeside recreation consistent with the supplied 1975 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has an unstaged passenger perspective, watching a young woman look out from a boat toward other water activity and the wooded shore.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a seated young woman, a boat windshield, lake water, wooded shoreline, small sailboat, fast-moving motorboat, wake spray, and boat hardware.
Film character: The footage carries home-movie 8mm texture with soft focus, visible grain, slight underexposure, color fading, gate edges, and handheld motion blur.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, travel-memory beat, or cutaway between broader scenes of family vacation, boating, or lakeside recreation.
Historical context: The footage reflects informal recreational boating and shoreline observation, with social context limited to visible leisure activity rather than an identifiable public event.
Research note: People are visible and at least one face is partly seen, so likeness review may be needed separately from copyright or location assessment, with no visible brands or private interiors in these frames.
Research search match: Likely search matches include 1970s 8mm boating home movie, Boston area lake recreation, girl in motorboat, summer vacation on lake, and wooded shoreline water activity.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other shots from the same reel, then with Boston or 1975 lakeside footage, and then with broader 1970s boating, family vacation, or summer recreation material.
