People On A Small Speedboat Go By A Large Ship By The Shore — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm footage from Boston, USA in 1975 captures a large, weathered cargo ship named ATLANTICA IBERIA docked at a bustling industrial port. The white hull shows significant rust and wear, with the ship's name clearly visible. The scene transitions to a small speedboat with two people—a man in a red shirt and a woman in blue—zipping across the water, leaving a white wake. The background reveals a city skyline with industrial buildings and storage tanks under a bright blue sky. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 film grain, color shifts, and slight camera shake, evoking a nostalgic, authentic home movie feel.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: This clip supports 1970s editorial requests for Boston harbor, industrial waterfront, cargo shipping, and small recreational boat activity in authentic 8mm home-movie footage.
Period detail: The weathered cargo ship, small outboard speedboat, industrial shoreline, and visible film contact-frame edges fit the supplied 1975 Boston home-movie context.
Home-movie behavior: The footage has an unstaged waterside viewpoint, first holding on a docked ship and then catching a small boat as it passes across the harbor.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include the rust-streaked white hull of ATLANTICA IBERIA, dark contact-sheet frame bars, choppy harbor water, a small white speedboat, two seated passengers, low industrial buildings, storage tanks, and a distant shoreline.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, gate edges, handheld shake, motion blur, blue-purple color shift, and visible grain that give the footage strong physical-film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief harbor insert, maritime transition, industrial-port cutaway, or memory beat between broader Boston waterfront scenes.
Historical context: The clip visually situates recreational boating alongside cargo shipping and industrial shoreline activity without making claims beyond the supplied Boston 1975 metadata.
Research note: Human likenesses are visible at a distance and the ship name appears on the hull, so copyright, trademark, privacy, and likeness questions should be reviewed separately for intended use.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1970s Boston harbor 8mm footage, cargo ship at industrial port, rusted freighter docked by shore, and small speedboat passing waterfront.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other Boston 1975 waterfront material, and then broader 1970s maritime, shipping, and recreational boating footage.
