Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: This clip can support archive requests for 1970s American home-movie material showing summer leisure, backyard pool activity, and family holiday atmosphere for documentary or educational edits.
Period detail: The visible backyard swimming pool, diving board, tile patio, swim cap and goggles may show mid-1970s domestic leisure details consistent with the supplied 1975 Boston home-movie metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the unstaged observation of a swimmer moving quietly through a backyard pool, filmed from a family or visitor perspective rather than a formal production setup.
What appears in frame: The frames show a swimmer in blue pool water, a diving board, pool ladder, checkered patio, wooden fence, lounge chair, hose or pool line, and trees beyond the yard.
Film character: The 8mm scan has pronounced grain, soft focus, handheld framing, uneven exposure, and saturated blue-purple color shifts that give the scene recognizable physical-film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief memory beat, summer leisure insert, domestic vacation cutaway, or transition within a sequence about 1970s family life.
Historical context: The footage offers a small-scale view of private outdoor recreation and family holiday routines without supporting broader claims about Boston, tourism, or social conditions beyond the supplied location and year.
Research note: A visible person appears in swimwear, so likeness and privacy review may be needed, while no logos, audible music, or clearly identifiable brands are visible in the provided frames.
Research search match: Relevant researcher searches include 1975 Boston home movie pool, 1970s family swimming footage, 8mm backyard pool vacation, vintage swimmer goggles, and Super 8 summer leisure.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with other Boston 1975 home-movie material, then with 1970s family vacation, backyard pool, and summer recreation footage.
