Medford New Jersey USA-1973: Teen Happy Dance In Front Of Elders Who Don't Understand

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Fits requests for 1970s generational-contrast or youth-culture footage for documentary and editorial productions set in early-1970s suburban America.

Period detail

A man's dark suit with white boutonniere and striped tie, brocade drapery, and folding chairs are all consistent with a 1973 home or community social gathering.

Home-movie behavior

The camera captures an unposed moment — a young person caught in motion while seated adults appear to watch or look away, giving the clip genuine unstaged candor.

What appears in frame

Gold brocade curtains, folding chairs, suited man with white boutonniere, woman in red clothing, figure with afro in motion, deep blue-purple color cast, ceiling light fixture, interior gathering space.

Film character

The 8mm stock shows a pronounced blue-purple color shift, soft focus during movement, and visible grain from indoor low-light exposure — characteristic texture of amateur film from the early 1970s.

Edit role

Works as a memory beat or generational-contrast cutaway in documentary sequences covering 1970s youth culture, family dynamics, or social change in suburban America.

Historical context

The brocade drapery, formal attire with boutonniere, and folding-chair seating are consistent with a mid-1970s domestic or community social event in the northeastern United States.

Research note

Adult faces are identifiable in at least two frames; likeness rights should be evaluated before editorial or commercial use; the setting appears to be a private interior.
