Two Women At A Beach Cabana Applying Suntan Lotion — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Cuba in 1956 shows two women at a beachside cabana. One woman in a red one-piece swimsuit and white swim cap stands while the other in a lavender swimsuit bends to apply suntan lotion. They stand beside a distinctive blue and yellow checkered beach tent with lounge chairs. The scene captures classic mid-century beach life with natural film grain, soft color palette, and a nostalgic, candid atmosphere. The ocean waves roll onto the sandy shore in the background.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1950s Cuba beach home-movie footage supports editorial requests for mid-century leisure, women’s swimwear, seaside travel, and candid vacation routines.
Period detail: The one-piece swimsuits, swim cap, striped cabana tent, and folding lounge chairs may show mid-century beach customs consistent with the 1956 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has unstaged value as one woman casually applies suntan lotion near another, recorded from a distant vacation-film viewpoint.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two women in swimsuits, a blue and yellow beach cabana, folding lounge chairs, pale sand, shoreline surf, towels or mats, and dune grass.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft color, visible grain, slight blur, and handheld framing that give the scene a physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, travel-memory beat, beach-life cutaway, or transitional detail in a 1950s leisure sequence.
Historical context: The scene documents beach recreation and sunbathing behavior in a private vacation context without making claims about named people or a specific resort.
Research note: People are visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos are apparent, and copyright, location, and model permissions should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1956 Cuba beach home movie, 8mm women applying suntan lotion, mid-century cabana, and vintage swimwear footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with neighboring shots from the same reel, then other Cuba 1956 beach material, then broader mid-century seaside leisure footage.
