A Squirrel In A Tree In Front Of A Hotel — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 1974, showing a squirrel perched in a tree trunk in the foreground. The scene is viewed through a dark frame, with a large hotel building and other structures visible across a calm lake. The image has a distinct retro color palette with faded greens and blues, typical of 1970s film stock. The squirrel remains mostly still, while the water reflects the surrounding buildings and trees under bright daylight. The footage exhibits natural film grain and slight motion blur, capturing a quiet, nostalgic moment of suburban life.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: This 1974 Colorado Springs 8mm clip can support archival requests for quiet 1970s travel, lakeside hotel surroundings, and animal cutaways in documentary or educational edits.
Period detail: The faded color, small-gauge framing, waterfront hotel architecture, and home-movie exposure may show a mid-1970s visitor view of Colorado Springs leisure surroundings.
Home-movie behavior: The camera holds from a shaded visitor position through trees toward a calm lake and hotel building, preserving an unstaged pause rather than a composed commercial view.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a dark tree trunk in the foreground, leafy branches, a pale multi-story hotel-like building, smaller lakeside structures, calm water, and bright daylight reflections.
Film character: The clip has a soft 8mm color-film texture with visible grain, slight blur, uneven exposure, and dark gate edges that reinforce its home-movie origin.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief cutaway, location-establishing insert, quiet memory beat, or transition between travel footage and nature details.
Historical context: The scene places a small animal and lakeside landscaping against a large Colorado Springs hotel setting, offering everyday visual context for 1970s domestic travel footage without making claims about a named landmark.
Research note: No people, faces, logos, or audible music are indicated, but the visible hotel-like exterior and lakeside property should still be reviewed separately for property and copyright considerations.
Research search match: Useful researcher searches include 1974 Colorado Springs 8mm lake hotel, 1970s home movie squirrel in tree, vintage Colorado travel footage, and small-gauge lakeside building cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with other 1974 Colorado Springs exteriors, and then with broader 1970s travel, hotel, lake, and urban wildlife material.
