Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s Colorado home-movie wildlife footage for productions needing a brief bison enclosure insert, managed-habitat cutaway, or regional travel-memory detail.
Period detail: The 8mm color stock, soft handheld framing, chain-link enclosure, dry rocky ground, and pine backdrop support the provided 1973 Colorado Springs setting without identifying a specific facility.
Home-movie behavior: The footage has a visitor-shot perspective, observing bison grazing from outside or near a fenced habitat rather than staging animal behavior for the camera.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a herd of adult bison and calves, dry rocky soil, scattered feed or pale stones, chain-link fencing, pine trees, distant hills, and a brief lakeside mountain view with small people in the distance.
Film character: The clip carries period 8mm texture through muted color, light grain, soft focus, slight exposure variation, and modest handheld movement.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short wildlife insert, regional travel cutaway, managed-nature transition, or memory beat between broader Colorado landscape scenes.
Historical context: The scene shows bison presented within a fenced public or managed setting, reflecting visitor access to wildlife viewing while not establishing whether the animals are in a zoo, park, ranch, or preserve.
Research note: People appear small and unidentified in the distant lakeside frame, so copyright clearance should be assessed separately from any likeness or property considerations, with no visible logos or readable signage in these stills.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1973 Colorado Springs 8mm bison footage, vintage home movie buffalo grazing enclosure, 1970s Colorado wildlife habitat, and Super 8 bison herd with calves.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with other 1973 Colorado Springs or Colorado travel footage, and then with related bison, mountain, forest, lake, or visitor-wildlife material.
